Ebony's Mountain Man

Ebony's Mountain Man is by Ebony Masterpiece (Skipper Son Midnight x Lady Lee) and is out of Mountain Gold G. (Gold Bond x Mountain Mary), he was foaled May 4, 1967.

Ebony's Mountain Man was sold eventually to Joe Tillett, wo bought him for his daughter, Judy, to show in Amateur Classes.

Shortly after Joe Tillett purchased him, Judy Tillett Day and Ebony's Mountain Man won the Owner Amateur Wold Championship titles in 1977.

In 1978, Ebony's Mountain Man was named Reserve World Grand Champion at the Celebration, despite a pulled tendon, with Sammy Day up.

In 1979, he tied for third place, despite being weakened by a kidney infection. In November of '79 Ebony's Mountain Man won the Stake Championship.

In 1980, his owners decided to attempt the big title one last time. In early July, Ebony's Mountain Man's shoes were put back on and he went right to work.

In 1980, at the Celebration, his first appearance was in the stallion 15.2 and over class, where he was giving a perfect performance in all three gaits, and "walked" away with the blue in Section A Stallions Over 15.2 class, with Sammy Day up

His second and final appearance, was in the Celebrations Big Stake Class, There were nine horses entered in this class, however; it was number 834 that was called, Sammy Day and Ebony's Mountain Man "walked" away with the roses!

Immediately after the Celebration, owners Tillett and Day announced that Ebony's Mountain Man would not be put under saddle again, rather, he would be led, even for the retirement Ceremonies.
